What's the Book about?
Two teenagers, Tom and George, find themselves trapped by bushrangers and forced into receiving stolen goods. Betrayal leads to their imprisonment and attempts at their early release are thwarted by a worsening of the bushranger problem, with several murders.
The lads are found guilty of association with bushrangers and receiving stolen goods – they are sent to the gallows.
Murder, martial law, hangings, beheading of a comrade, the public display of rotting corpses, and the ongoing struggles of friendship and family, all make this a gripping story, which recalls events that actually happened in Hobart Town in 1815.
